Meagan, a Saint Luke’s nurse...

was inspired to pursue a career in nursing when she was sixteen and her father was treated by Saint Luke’s for a traumatic brain injury. That experience had a profound influence. Years later, she became a neurological ICU nurse at Saint Lukes working along side some of the very same people who cared for her father, and in some of the very same rooms. Today, Meagan treats each patient with the same compassion and dedication her father once received. That’s the Saint Luke’s experience.

Grace, a Saint Luke’s Nurse...

came to work at our health system after an amazing 30 years of nursing in places like England, Saudi Arabia, and Singapore. Just as she was settling into a new life in the U.S., she received news that her mother in Singapore was seriously ill. She was nervous to ask for time off, but she spoke with her department director who was very understanding. When Grace returned to the hospital, her shift was waiting for her and she was welcomed back with open arms. That’s the Saint Luke’s experience.

Jesse, a Saint Luke’s Nurse...

treats a variety of patients every day, including those who have traveled long distances to meet specialists, and he can identify with their journeys. In college, he was on course to becoming a veterinarian but wasn’t entirely sure. Jesse followed the advice of a friend and switched majors. Today, he is proud to be part of a health system where so many inspired professionals are drawn to and call home. That’s the Saint Luke’s experience.

Audrey, an Emergency Department RN at Saint Luke’s East Hospital…

says nursing has been in her heart since she was young. As a child growing up in Hannibal, MO, Audrey’s play purse was always stuffed with Band-Aids and a toy stethoscope. Her Great Great Aunt Dora was a WWII army nurse and a civilian RN, who always told the family that Audrey was going to grow up to be a nurse. Today, as an ER RN at Saint Luke’s East, Audrey says she feels honored to care for people from every walk of life and of every age. She loves being a nurse because it mixes caring and intuition, with a scientific mind and a little creativity.
